Why Do So Many Intelligent People Lack Common Sense?

I think everyone would agree that if you were accepted to and attend MIT you must be reasonably intelligent...however, you don't necessarily possess even a modicum of common sense as is evidenced by this girl who walked into Logan with a circuit board on her sweatshirt that lit up and everything and totally ignored a security person when s/he questioned her about it.

DUDE!!! Don't go to the airport wearing any device that could be mistaken for a bomb or the detenation board for a bomb. I mean really, should you need to be told this?!?!?!?!

Actually I am not surprised at all. There are a lot of eccentrics that do end up at MIT and they don't think the way most people do.

She was just trying to express herself, man! She's CREATIVE! Creative people aren't limited by social norms and common sense. Creative people don't have to answer to THE MAN at the airport when being asked about a suspicious device strapped to their chest. They're all just trying to keep her down! If she wants to put on a duck costume and rob a bank, it's not CRIMINAL, it's PERFORMANCE ART. If she wants to bludgeon an old homeless man on the sidewalk with a trout because of it's symbolism and commentary on humanity - who are we to judge? When will people learn to appreciate true creativity?! It's like, you all want her to have normal looking hair and wear professional attire to career day. What's *that* all about? No way, man.
